The Hungerford Chamber of Commerce currently has over 100 members from a variety of retail and commercial businesses in the town and surrounding area.
The Chamber is very pro-active and works hard to solve issues that affect business in and around Hungerford. Recently we have funded an interim Vistor Information Point to provide easily accessible information to tourist and visitors alike - currently to be found in the premises of Sugarmouse, conveniently situated in the High Street..
There are a number of benefits to joining the Chamber not least of which are the networking opportunities, inclusion on this website, having your say on local business related issues, connections with the Rotary, Round Table, and the Town & District councils. Further benefits include members only schemes such as the Discover Hungerford Leaflet, subsidised advertising and other promotional activities. We have successfully worked on compensation for retailers for trading losses due to long term roadworks and are heavily involved with the schedule and planning for the new canal pedestrian bridge due to be completed in spring next year.
In addition we have successfully implemented a car parking charge refund scheme that looks set to encourage visitors to stay and spend a little, whilst the hugely popular ‘Quest for The Hungerford Jewel’ treasure hunt continues to run and has proven itself in bringing additional footfall to Hungerford.
The Chamber believes in investment in the future and has set up a 6th form mentoring scheme called com.com which aims to give students an information resource for further education, careers and work-life experience.
Our meetings, which are always lively and informative are generally held on the first Thursday of the month at various venues around the town. We keep members informed through this website, regular emails and our notice board, under the railway bridge, in the town.
We are not all about business though, we also have an active social calendar with events through the year and organise the Hungerford Victorian Extravaganza every year in December which regularly attracts crowds of over 10,000.
