Celebrating Tradition: The Hungerford Chamber of Commerce at Hocktide 2025
At the Hungerford Chamber of Commerce, we take immense pride in playing an active role in the life of our town—not just in supporting local businesses, but in upholding the traditions that make Hungerford so special. One of those cherished traditions is Hocktide, a celebration steeped in history and full of unique local character.
This year, our Chairman Karen Salmon had the great honour of being invited to the Top Table at the Hocktide Lunch by Constable Julie Lloyd. During her speech, Julie kindly acknowledged the Chamber's ongoing work to support and uplift our local business community—a mission we’re incredibly passionate about.
Karen was joined at the event by fellow Chamber members Alex Atkins and Jim Chetwode, representing the Chamber with pride and enthusiasm. A highlight of the day was a wonderful photo opportunity with Karen, Mayor Helen Simpson, and Constable Julie Lloyd—affectionately dubbed “The Three Witches” for the way their three organisations weave together to create something magical for Hungerford.
Hocktide is more than a date in the diary. It’s a living expression of Hungerford’s spirit—blending tradition, community, and connection. For the Chamber, being part of events like these is a reminder of why we do what we do. We believe in nurturing not just commerce, but community—building relationships that are rooted in respect, collaboration, and local pride.
We extend our thanks to the Hocktide Court for the invitation and the warm welcome, and we look forward to continuing our support for Hungerford’s businesses and its traditions for many years to come.
